Complexity & System Thinking

Our today business environment is rapidly becoming more complex. The old ways to understand the world - built upon the rationalism of Descartes - don't provide the right answers anymore. As a result we are using trial and error to tackle extreme events like the recent break-down of the banking systems.

On the other hand extreme events - like the sudden rise of Facebook and Twitter - come to us as a surprise. Again we have no framework to understand these rapid evolutions.

New paradigms that are promising come from complexity science and system thinking. These ways to look at the world are regarded as the new handles to better understand, manage and leverage extreme events and complex behavior.
